Marrakech Desert Tour
Departure
in the morning heading east toward Ouarzazate via Tizi n’Tichka Pass up through
the High Atlas Mountains stopping to take scenic photos along the way. You will
visit the Ait Benhaddou village to see an ancient Kasbah ranked by the UNESCO
organization; it is one of the world’s top touristic attractions. Many famous
movies were filmed in there.You will continue to Ouarzazate where there are the
largest movie studios or the so called the Hollywood of Africa, here you can
stop for lunch (optional). Set off through Skoura which is an extensive oasis
of palm groves where a beautiful Kasbah is located called Kasbah Amrhydil. Then
via Roses Valley where the annual roses festival is held every May, in this
town you’ll change the direction as you’ll take an off the beaten track through
which you’ll appreciate the tranquillity of the mountains populated by the
nomads of the Atlas. On the way you’ll keep your eyes open to see a host of mud
and brick constructed Berber villages. Check into your accommodation in the
bottom of the gorges. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2: Dades Gorges – Merzouga
Breakfast
and check out the other amazing Gorges, it is the Todra Canyons (300 m up in
the narrowest point), it´s an ideal place for walking and exploring on your
own. Then drivefurther to the desert of Merzouga, where there are the unique
dunes of Morocco. Dinner and overnight in a hotel near the dunes.
Day 3:
Merzouga – Dunes – Merzouga
After
your breakfast in the hotel you will start an adventure (Tour of the dunes),
visiting a village where the descendants of sub-Saharan Berbers' slaves will
entertain you with their authentic music. You will then get a chance to have some
tea with a nomad family before heading to Rissani. Here you will taste a Berber
pizza, a speciality of this town called Medfouna. Subsequently you will return
to Merzouga to saddle up the camels and cross the ocean of the dunes. You will
then get an opportunity to climb the dunes after sunset, then, view the bright
stars above as you fall asleep in your nomad camp between the famous dunes.
Day 4:
Merzouga – Rissani– Alnif –Tazarine-Ouarzazate
You’ll
wake up early to see the sunrise over the dunes then ride back on your camel to
the hotel where you’ll have breakfast and shower. We then continue the trip
towards the vast palm of Tafilalet through the town of Rissani (the root of the
Alaouite dynasty and the ancient capital of Sultans Alaouite) Continue to Alnif
for lunch. Carry on the road via Tazarine, N’kob and Tansihkt, from here we
will go offroadon a track which crosses the Draa Valley, it would be your
chance again to see the Ksours and Kasbahs, you’ll cross again another Atlas
range which is the Anti Atlas. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After
breakfast and before heading back to Marrakech you’ll visit the architectural
wonder of Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate. Continue to Marrakech through Atlas
Mountains as on the first day. Arrive in Marrakech and the end of the trip.
